We’re greeted this morning but the smiling an effervescent Jack Klienheksel donning one of his many colorful and exciting Hawaiian shirts. The morning crowd was treated to a sumptuous buffet of scrambled eggs, generous sausage patties, fresh hash browns, mandarin orange slices, juice, toast and coffee. There were many plates piled high.
Morning Conversations and Activities
Larry Pulaski arrived early and set up the ZOOM connection after spending time on a magical mystery tour looking for the access code of the Legion Hall internet. It all turned out well and we were connected and ready for action. Frank Middleton was introducing his guest, Vaughn Kendall to everyone and sharing the Club projects that included the Thanksgiving Dinner, Super Citizen and Tree lot activities. Steve Kady, Russ Paul and Ed Collins were immersed in conversation reflecting on the popularity of Classical Music. Tom Glazier, returning from a long hiatus was explaining he had returned because this is where the food is, and its really good! Mike McMahon was enjoying the camaraderie of the morning and happily reported he really missed not being able to attend earlier. George Buzick was actually missing, due to his appointment with the knee replacement doctor (Ouch!). Michael Chavez was busy passing around a get well card. It was a pleasant and lively morning.
President Elect Tom Kramis, sporting a very sharp Patagonia expedition shirt and crisp marching pants rang the bell and called the meeting to order. President Dan was absent and will return soon. Tom Mauro presented the invocation, “Being only the best. We are blessed with the peace and strength to think only that which is good & positive. To love our enemies, respect our friends and hold no grudges. May we learn to enjoy the best by thinking only the best to that which we do and share with others.” The Pledge of Allegiance followed with the rousing cheer of “Play Ball!”

Vaughn Kendall was introduced by Frank Middleton who presented him with a King Soopers card application. Vaughn explained he had recently retired from his 7am job and now has something to do once a week at 7am. By the end of the meeting he had decided to join and was enjoying his gaggle of new friends. Welcome aboard Vaughn.
Robert Wardlaw is happy to report that in 2 weeks the Principles to Breakfast will convene and invited everyone to attend.
Don Thomson noted there will be an honorarium memorial for the recently departed and beloved teacher Robert Moatz at Thomas Jefferson High School.

Joe Marci presented a copy of the Centennial Citizen newspaper article honoring the 60+kids at the Doral Optimist International Junior Golf Tournament. Bob Meyer is still in Florida and will present a consolidated report when he returns next week Russ Paul updated the status of the 5000+ Classical albums he has taken custody of. Steve Kady, Greg Young, Ed Collins, Pat Bush and Phil Perington are assisting in trying to find a venue to possibly build a Club fundraiser around.

Colorado’s finest peaches are coming! The Palisade grower will be delivering the peaches approximately the mid part of August.
What makes them the finest? Peach varieties include Red Globe, Red Haven, and Cresthaven, peaches that come from a family owned artisan grower. They are tree-ripened, handpicked, and assorted. Packed in a two-layer tray box, approximately 22+ lbs. (18-36 peaches depending on size) and brought to us in a refrigerated truck. This is why they need to be picked up as soon as they arrive and kept cool. These are all freestone, organic peaches, with an excellent full flavor, superior for immediate eating, canning, or freezing. These are all some of the most attractive peaches of the season. The price per box this year is again $35 per box, with a donation per box coming back to either Monaco South or Tamarac Optimist Club’s, depending on sales. Same price as in 2019.

Raffle Manager, Phil Perington is pleased to announce we have filed our quarterly report with the SOS office thanks to the assistance of Treasurers Greg Young and Pat Bush. We are ¾ of way to reaching our goal of selling 400 tickets. In fact Don Thomson purchased ticket #300 this morning. There are only 21 days left to achieve 100% in sales. We have displayed the information on Facebook, The Villager and LinkedIn. Please do your best to help get the last 100 tickets sold. 1st prize is $3000 2nd is $1000 and 10 lucky winners will receive $100 for 3rd place. Three door prizes worth over $300 will be awarded to those in attendance as well. We need everyone’s help and support for our 1st Annual Raffle in support of our Youth programs.
Tom Kramis announced the Christmas tree orders are in motion. He is discovering there is a nationwide shortage of inventory but feels confident we will have our lot full of trees this year. He then shared some stories on the history of Christmas trees and a few interesting facts. Tom asked if anyone would like to serve on the Tree Lot Committee. Larry Pulaski, Joe Marci, Frank Middleton, Tom Glazier and Phil Perington volunteered to serve. Bob Avery agreed to scout out trees in Oregon and might visit the Silver Bells conglomerate. This led to a chorus of Silver Bells from the crowd.
The Annual Installation Luncheon will be held on October 2nd at Maggiano’s for $33 a person. Chris Dunphy is working on the arrangements. More details will be forthcoming.
Randy Marcove Zooming in from Costa Rica, reported a beautiful sunrise and was treated to a very happy birthday from everyone.
The upcoming Kendra Black SE Denver summer celebration event is just around the corner and there was a discussion about ant interest in having an information Boot Booth at event. Tom Glazier has volunteered to steer the proposal.
