ANNOUNCEMENTS

A note from John and Claire Young:
I don’t know if you want to put this info in the next MOS GUMS for those who remember Jim Rumer.  He was a wonderful guy.  Good friend of Eldon Strong and Todd Olson.  Good friend of ours, too.  And I’m sure he was a good Optimist for the years he was a member.  He passed away in California shortly before Christmas, I think.
Just received a note from Mary Anne regarding Jim's burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 10 A.M. on June 7th, 2023, and a Celebration of Life for him at Abiding Hope Church on June 9th, 2023, at 11 A.M.  I just looked up the address of the church and it is Abiding Life Lutheran Church at 6337 S. Robb Way in Littleton, CO.
Mary Anne and the kids are very grateful for the support of their friends in Colorado.

BRAIN BOWL COMPETITION
Craig Eley takes the mic and invites our MC Dan Rodriguez, who tells us about the rules for our own Brain Bowl competition.  The contest will have 30 questions.  He reminds the audience not to shout answers, during the competition.  The decisions of the reader are final.  Craig invites team members up, from both Tamarac and Monaco South.
Jon Wachter, Al Gapuzan, Mario Sani, and Jake Baker will be representing the club. The Tamarac team consists of

Linda Williams, Cindy Eley, Mary Gelb and Nancy Kennedy. represent the best and brightest of Tamarac Optimist Club

In spite of a valiant effort by the guys from Monaco South, the final score was slightly in favor of The Brainiacs from Tamarac. Final score: 27 - 13
There was some conjecture that there was collusion between the quizmaster and one of the contestants (with whom he lives), but there is no proof of this. There is some reason to believe the old Harry Belafonte lyric "That's right, the women are smarter".
A good time was had by all. Thanks to Craig Eley for organizing this event and creating the questions, which are shown below.

T H E O P T I M I S T C R E E D — Promise Yourself . . . To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for
anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
